Internships

Guidelines to the students who want to pursue internship or industrial training during summer vacation.

  • Students can approach any industry / institute through their known references and apply for internship.
  • Reputed Educational institutes: IITs, IISc, IIITs, NITs, IIMs, ISB etc.(Students may visit their websites and look out for such opportunities)
  • Any manufacturing or service sector companies in the fields of IT / Electronics / Telecommunications / Power generation or distribution / mechanical / production / automobile / construction of buildings / roads / other infrastructure / Surveying / Soil testing / Transportation – whichever is relevant to the branch of engineering the student is from.
  • The minimum period of internship / training is THREE weeks and it will carry 2 credits. These credits will be shown in the marks sheet, but will not be counted for CGPA calculation.
  • Students can take up this training / internship either individually or in teams. The maximum number of students in any team shall be FOUR.
  • Interested students can obtain a letter of request / recommendation from the respective Head of the Department and apply to the industries / institutes.
  • Students shall submit letter of consent or permission from the industry or institute providing internship, along with a joint declaration by the student and parent, at least ONE month before the commencement of class work for next semester.
  • The students shall strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the host institute / industry and adhere to their code of conduct during the period of internship / training.
  • The student himself / herself shall bear all the expenditure for food / traveling / accommodation / fee, if any, during the internship. However, the candidate is entitled to receive stipend if offered by host industry / institute.
  • After the completion of training / internship the student shall submit a report to the head of respective department.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate should have a minimum CGPA of 6.5 without any active backlogs at the end of 3rd Year - second semester.
  • The candidate should not have got less than 75% attendance in any semester or year till 4th Year – first semester.

General Guidelines / Instructions

  • The industry / institute that provides internship should be well known and should have facilities and expertise to guide an undergraduate student for carrying out project work.
  • Students can approach the prospective industries / institutes through their known references, if any. The students can apply to the industry / institute either individually or in teams. The maximum size of any team shall be THREE and each member shall satisfy the above-mentioned eligibility criteria.
  • Request / recommendation letter from the college can be obtained from the respective Head of department on production of name and address of the industry / institute.
  • The candidate shall submit letter of consent from the industry or institute at least TWO WEEKS before the commencement of class work for second semester along with a joint declaration by the candidate and parent. Otherwise they will be deemed to be pursuing regular course of second semester in the college.
  • If the internship is arranged by the college the candidates shall satisfy the eligibility criteria of the respective industry and also there may be selection process like written test / interview.
  • The candidate shall work for a minimum period of 12 weeks in any institute or industry, which is approved by the college and shall strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the host institute / industry and adhere to their code of conduct.
  • The candidate himself / herself shall bear all the expenditure for food / traveling / accommodation / fee, if any, during the internship. However, the candidate is entitled to receive stipend if offered by host industry / institute.

Guidelines for Project Work & Evaluation

  • There will be an internal supervisor from the college and external supervisor from the host industry / institute and the candidate must complete his/her project work during the period of internship under the guidance of both the supervisors. During this period the candidate shall be in touch with the internal supervisor and keep him/her informed of the progress of the work being carried out..
  • It is the responsibility of the candidate to know the date(s) of examinations / viva-voce and attend them accordingly.
  • The external supervisor and/or HR Manager will evaluate the performance of the candidate (on parameters like quality of work, learning ability, attendance, behavior/ attitude) and sends the report to the college directly, based on which the college will award marks /grades for the final semester. If any candidate falls short of getting minimum marks / grades as per the existing academic regulations of the college, he/ she shall have to repeat the final semester in the next academic year.
  • The Project Report, signed by the external and internal supervisors must be submitted to the respective departments as per the rules and regulations of the college in force. A certificate from the competent authority of the host institute / industry shall be included in the project report. The project report will be evaluated as per the regular procedure in the college.
  • The candidate shall also submit a brief Report on Internship covering his / her learnings, experiences, and details about the company.
