Central Library

The central Library is located in spacious individual three storied fully air conditioned building.


The Central Library has a huge collection of 12741 titles, 75935 books (69,391 books, 4373 SC Book bank scheme books, 2171 ST Book bank scheme books (total 75,935), subscribes to more than 150 print international and national journals , 3144 Back volumes, General magazines, Digital books and online resources on Engineering, Science, Humanities and Management. Reprographic facilities and Internet facilities are available in the Central Library.


All the Books to be Issued and SC/ST book bank scheme books are kept in the Ground Floor. The reference section is available in the First floor Reference books are to be referred within the library premises not for lending. This section contains encyclopedias, dictionaries, general books, textbooks one copy of each of the prescribed text books and other recommended books are kept in the reference section.In the second floor Journals section back volumes of journals, Digital Library, discussion rooms, staff reading room and video rooms are made available to the readers for their studies.


Cubical seating arrangement is provided for the individual study.The Central Library is open from 8.00 AM to 8.00 PM on all working days and the working hours are extended during examinations. The students can loan three books at any time.


RGMCET Central Library subscribed for IEEE ASPP ONLINE Digital Library and Knimbus an interface for all open access resources to global e-journal literature and made available through IP based access throughout the campus with 1 Gbps band width via campus wide networking.


RGMCET Library is the institutional member of DELNET, INFLIBNET and NDL National Digital Library of India. RGMCET Central Library is the institutional member of JNTUA consortium.


The Central Library is updated with KOHA Library Software with RFID technology from LibSys Lsease software package by 2CQR automation private limited, Chennai. It is an integrated multi user library management system that supports all in house operations of the Library with online public access catalogue ie OPAC and Web OPAC. The bibliographic details of all the 75,935 books are entered in this software and can be accessed through the Web OPAC.

NPTEL Resources

National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning resources (NPTEL) material of CSE, CE, ME, EEE, ECE, Basic science and Humanities can be accessed through 12 Core i3 computers.

Working-Hours

All working Days: 8.00 AM to 6.00 PM The Issue Counter functions between 9.30 AM and 5.30 PM on all working days.

Issue and return of books

  1. Books other than reference copies and periodicals will be issued to the members only on the days specified for them for a period of 14 days . For faculty this borrowing period is one month.
  2. Two renewals of books will be allowed provided there are no reservations against these books. For renewals the members shall produce the books physically and also submit their ID cards.
  3. The borrowers are solely responsible for any damage and loss to the books borrowed by them. They shall satisfy themselves with the condition of the books at the time of borrowing.
  4. Failure to return books before the due dates mentioned on the slips, whatever may be the reason shall attract the following rates of overdue charges.
    • First seven days Rs 1/- per day and from 8th day onwards Rs 2/- per day. Holidays are not excluded while counting the days of late return.
    • If the due date mentioned on the due date slip happens to be a holiday, the due date will be taken as the next immediate working day.
    • If a book is not returned within 50 days from the due date, the cost of the book along with overdue charges will be leived.
    • The candidate should keep the books clean, do not tear up or stain the leaves and do not make pencil or other marks on them.

Loss of books

  • Loss of books, if any shall be reported to the librarian immediately and the borrower shall be permitted to provide the replacement with good copy of similar book only on obtaining the permission from the Head of the Institution.
  • If the borrower fails to replace the lost book within the time fixed, twice the cost of the book and the overdue charges will be levied.

Reservation of books

The members shall reserve any book which is already in issue. The reserved books after their return will be kept at the counter for two consecutive days for the benefit of those who reserved them. If they fail to collect them within two days these books shall be issued to the members in the waiting list and the members shall forfeit their seniority in reservation.

General rules

Wearing ID card is compulsory in the library.
Entry details at Visitors Register are compulsory.

  1. Readers should observe strict silence inside the Library.
  2. Use of Mobile phones is not permitted inside the Library premises.
  3. Library Timings 8-00 AM to 8 PM on all working days.
  4. Circulation section timings 9-30 AM to 5 PM .
  5. Loan period one Month.
  6. Three books are issued to UG I and II year .
  7. Four books are issued to UG III and IV year .
  8. Four Books for PG students .
  9. Users are not allowed to carry eatables/drinks inside the Library premises.
  10. Members are requested to keep their belongings at the entrance of the Library. However they are advised not to leave any valuables outside the library. These items are liable to be lost.
  11. Library users are strictly prohibited from taking the borrowed and stamped books again inside the library.
  12. Books will not be issued to members on the ID card of others.
  13. Books will be issued subject to availability only.
  14. No sub-lending of books is permitted.
  15. Readers are not allowed to bring their personal books or any printed material (spiral/bound book) inside the Library.
  16. Readers should not talk or discuss as they may disturb other readers. Reading halls are meant for individual study and research only.
  17. Under special circumstances, the Librarian may refuse the issue of books or recall the books already issued from any member without assigning any reason thereof.
  18. Reference books, Newspapers, Magazines, Journals should not be taken out.
